Figure-Ground, Prägnanz, Closure, and Common Fate. Gestalt principles and the laws of perceptual organization.

We experience through difference, contrast and relativity.

Emptiness, void, dead silence. Absolute absence. Nothingness. A familiar neutral baseline.

The isolation, gaps and spacing between elements, functions as a means to organise them. From which arises cognition; the ability to make sense of, give meaning to, and create a schematic structure.

Inversely, noise, such as an absolute presence of randomness. Provides an alternative state of constancy, a high threshold. Which through subtraction and reduction, we are able to create negative reliefs and forms.

This is the 1st principle of noise art.
