Demonic voice of Erkh Jangal

Modern Normandic Mongolians are anything but modern.

Enkh Jargal (actually Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig) who plays a Mongolian Fiddle looking half cigar box guitar and sounding half Erhu. Jargal administers his vocals via Throat Singing and falsetto vocal together with his horse head fiddle.

Wearing his traditional clothes with his 2 other counter parts, they look like they are in an old Italian occultist movie about to do something satanic. Their music is actually more Shamanic.


The throat singing seems to bring reference to the music found in eyes wide shut by Emily Pook (which was played in reverse in the movie) but has no relations


 

 Here Erkh has a more mainstream attitude towards pop world music. Some beats sound a bit more Indian which could well be Mongolian, there is also a jazz improvised solo at the end:
