The Fallen Fairies

Just days ago, so sought after. Now sadly left sitting on the shelf. A fallen fairy.

The season has passed. Just like that. The 15th day of the 8th moon of the lunar calendar. The Autumnal Equinox.

Some old chinese tale about a relationship between a moon fairy and a cotton tailed rabbit. Amazing how it turned into a commercialised business opportunity to market expensive lotus paste filled moulded pastries in elaborate packaging.

So what happens to the unsold mooncakes? We can only wonder. Some believe that they metamorphosise into humble steamed lotus paste buns. There's no real evidence of this taking place. No one has actually documented the journey of the unsold mooncakes, and that transformation.
